Huh?

Okay, I just got my January Creating Keepsakes mag last week. I was a wee bit ticked when I saw Jessica Sprague's column about framing to accentuate a small portion of a photograph. Why was I ticked? This layout above here, see that? I created that and submitted it to creating keepsakes on June 28, 2007. JUNE! The layout I did was spurred on by some very talented and amazing gals on CK's gallery. This idea was not unique to the designer in the magazine, nor was it her own epiphany. People were already doing this technique BEFORE she happened to stumble on to it. I'm not staying she copied us, I mean, it's not a new idea. But the article made it seem like she claims it all as her own....just a bit frustrating. I happen to think I did a pretty decent job using that technique all on my own without her version of it.

Here is the link to another talented lady who submitted her layout on CK's gallery the same day I sent mine to CK for a long shot at getting published. Yes I copied her technique, I fully admit it. http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/gallery/details.ihtml?idx=59741 What bothers me is when people use a technique and allow others to presume they are just brilliant like that when in fact they are following an existing trend.

Alrighty then. I'm done venting. I've just heard it said time and time again that a few of the columnists for CK hop online and copy popular ideas for their own gain, and I am starting to wonder is all.

Well that stinks. I think (no, I know) that I would be peeved as well. Scrapping is so political these days!!
