We're falling apart over here!

Okay, so I've written about my own medical junk...well, here's a new story for ya....

My husband snores. That's an understatement. He doesn't have apnea that we know of but he does choke in his sleep on occasion which leads to coughing spells which last for hours and end in him vomiting because he couldn't stop coughing and his stomach couldn't handle it...bizarre. So he went to his general doctor to get referred to a sleep study. They did a full panel of blood work, listened to his complaints...he's tired all the time, falls asleep during the day a lot, can't work as hard for the same duration as he used to because he's fatigued, sometimes he's lethargic....so yeah, we got a letter in the mail two days later 'please call and schedule an appointment immidiately to discuss your bloodwork.' Cryptic. As it turns out...there was a problem. The average male should have a testosterone level upwards of 500...Kevin's came back barely over 100. Ding ding ding. We have a winner. The main problems with low testosterone are ahem...performance related, however the other complaints are everything my husband has been experiencing.

Now Kevin is on a testosterone therapy to treat this. We went to pick up the medication, which is actually a gel like goop that he has to smear on his body, weird I know....but even after the insurance paid their pidly little portion, it cost just over $200 for a three month supply. GASP!! I cannot believe this has to be so expensive, it's not like it's a cancer treatment, but I guess hormone therapies are crazy expensive to produce. I'm just hoping he starts to feel back to normal soon! (It would help my nerves too I think. He always falls asleep when he's supposed to be watching the girls, I just worry that he'll fall asleep and one of them will get seriously hurt. Crazy mommy fear. I know.)

In the morning I go in for my biopsy results too by the way. So this week is crazy. I am just hoping I dont have to spend anymore money tomorrow on medical bills. We still have Kevin's knee surgery from last month to pay off. (Coincidentally, the knee surgery 'all said and done' was only $70 MORE than the hormones for three months, what the????? How does that work? We could get him arthroscopic knee surgery twice a year and still pay less for that then hormone therapy....good old healthcare system...lol)

My hubby snores, too, and it drives me CRAZY. He doesn't have quite the symptoms your husband does, but it's bad enough that I send him to the couch frequently :) I'm glad they found the problem, though. That must be a relief!
